Accessibility Statement
This statement was last updated on 2nd June 2025.
We at Plumstead Community Law Centre are working to make our site www.pclc.org.uk accessible to the widest possible audience. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the accessibility of this website or how we could improve it, please contact us here or via email at info@pclc.org.uk.
What web accessibility is
An accessible site allows visitors with a range of different needs to browse the site with the same or a similar level of ease and enjoyment as other visitors. This can be achieved with the capabilities of the system on which the site is operating, and through assistive technologies.
Accessibility adjustments on this site
This website was built to conform to the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0. It was built using code compliant with W3C standards for HTML and CSS. This means that it displays correctly in current browsers, and should continue to display correctly in future browsers. We seek to follow accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability. Still, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website. If you would like content on this website in hard copy or a different format, please contact us. More suggestions on how to improve your web browsing experience, on this site and elsewhere, can be found on the BBC website.

As part of our efforts to make this website accessible, we have also:
-
Used the Accessibility Wizard to find and fix potential accessibility issues
-
Set the language of the site
-
Set the content order of the site’s pages
-
Defined clear heading structures on all of the site’s pages
-
Added alternative text to images
-
Implemented color combinations that meet the required color contrast
-
Reduced the use of motion on the site
-
Ensured all videos, audio, and files on the site are accessible
-
Enabled changing text size (normally by selecting View and then Text Size, or Zoom on Chrome)
-
Enabled navigating with the tab key (using tab key you can move between links and form fields)
-
Enabled Text to speech (our website can be read by text-to-speech software, if you do not have such software installed already, please see these free options for download from the RNIB website)
-
Ensured links taking you to other websites will open in another tab or window so you do not lose your page on our website and can keep browsing both.
Accessibility arrangements in the Law Centre
Our offices have three steps at the front of the building, which can be made accessible with a ramp for those with physical impairments and wheelchair users, but please contact us before you attend the office as our offices are open by appointment only. Our offices and reception area are accessible to wheelchair users, but our toilets can only be accessed by a small corridor which may not provide the space necessary. We have interpreters available for those who speaking additional languages, and can adapt our services for those who have additional visual or audio support needs.
